Why entity resolution is the missing layer in on-chain due diligence

Address-level analytics matured quickly. Entity-level resolution — connecting addresses to legal persons and their controllers — did not.

On-chain analytics answers a narrow question well: what did this address do? Institutional diligence asks a wider one: which legal person is accountable for it, and who controls that person?

The resolution problem

Entity resolution requires reconciling registry identifiers, trading names, group structures and observed on-chain behaviour into a single record with source provenance attached to each field. Without provenance, the record is an assertion rather than evidence.

“A data point without a source is an opinion with a timestamp.”
